About

Dr. Jeon Woong Kang is a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was trained as a physicist at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). After his PhD, he joined the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital as a research fellow. In 2009 he moved to the MIT Laser Biomedical Research Center.

With Drs. Michael Feld, Ramachandra Dasari and Peter So, he has taken care of the biomedical spectroscopy activities of the center. His research topics include Raman-based continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), spectroscopy-guided cancer biopsy, intra-operative cancer margin assessment, intra-needle optical sensors for medical needle guidance, and label-free monitoring of biological systems.
